Even more, the product owner works with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business is building the best product. On a Scrum team, the role of the product owner has since evolved to become the person who clarifies the group’s shared goals, direction, and process. They also resolve any conflicting priorities. The product owner offers the single point of information to keep the team focused and to reduce churn that results from waiting for information or answers. They lack the accountability within the larger organization to finish the work on time. They get information from a variety of sources without the ability to discern what is key to the project. Interestingly, Signal is still taking potshots at Facebook. This has led to people looking for alternatives, and Acton had done well to fund and have a competitor ready that can take advantage. After the original founders left, Facebook does appear to be making moves to access WhatsApp’s data and show ads. Acton had made his feelings for his former employer made known in a tweet following the Cambridge Analytica scandal, in which he’d urged people to “Delete Facebook.” He had even been remorseful, later saying that he’d sold his users’ privacy for a “larger benefit.” In 2017, Acton and Koum had quit Facebook. There’s also a connect between Signal and WhatsApp - they share the same founder. And Signal claims to provide greater privacy for its users - its chats and backups are fully end-to-end encrypted, unlike WhatsApp.

Unlike WhatsApp, its code is open source.
